Look I know the cycle of history with chat clients comes and goes. IRC, AIM, Skype, Discord, etc. I know it will happen eventually but.. to me it can't come soon enough. I'm so over Discord. I'm so over the greed, the constant advertising their shitty "features" that all involve just spending money. I want something more.
I want something better. Actually.. it doesn't even have to be better really. Fuck I'd go back to AIM if I could. I want some really cool aesthetic chat client. I don't want whatever Discord has evolved into. I don't want the greed. Fuck I'd use Pictochat for everything if I could!! Or just like.. weird chat clients like PlayOnline messaging or whatever.
I don't really know what else exists out there besides stuff like Line, Signal, or Telegram. I want to use any of those to be honest. If you have any suggestions, lemme know.
Also is it weird I wish we just used email again as well? Email in theory is kinda awesome.
What if there was an email but it had like.. a travel time like real mail? Would it make us be a little more intentional with what we wrote? Would it build up excitement to actually get an email? Would it mean more than a simple Discord DM? This is what I want. Well partially. I'd still love a Discord alternative.
Communication should be interesting and fun.. not the awful and questionable thing it is now.
